Our Fleet of Mercedes Benz Mini Coaches
Our Mercedes Benz Vehicles are imported from Germany to Australia in the form of a van with windows, but fitted with an extra air conditioning system in preparation for the vehicle to be fitted out into a bus. This fleet replacement commenced in June 2010 and by October 2011 the 5th vehicle has just been completed.
The vehicles are sent to an Australian company where the walls are exposed in order that sound proofing and insulation can be fitted and the walls have a material cladding added. Seats are then manufactured for the exact seat size requirements needed and bolted to the floor after the carpet has been laid. Next a special running board step is attached and a fire extinguisher fitted beside the driver's seat.
A microphone system is wired in, a reversing camera is positioned at the rear and a speed distance and time recording device is fitted into the dash board recording the vehicle speeds at all times when it is driven.
Additional fittings of a fridge, a storage bin and rubbish bin are all added. These modifications are carried out under direction from an engineer to ensure that the work has been done according to the relevant government authority.
The most important feature is the Driver Monitoring Software, called Mix Telematics, incorporated with a GPS which records the vehicle's location, speed, braking etc. It monitors driver performanace, total hours driven and distance travelled.
The vehicles go to Public Transport Safety for an inspection and on passing successfully can be registered as a bus licensed to seat 14 passengers.
